Davis® Foundations for Reading

The early years of learning to read shape how a child feels about school — and about themselves. When reading comes easily, confidence grows naturally. When it doesn’t, even very young children can begin to doubt their abilities. The Davis® Foundations for Reading Program was created to give children ages 5 to 7 a strong, positive start by teaching reading in a way that truly fits how they think and learn.
This program is delivered one-to-one by a trained Davis® Facilitator and is carefully customized to each child. Rather than relying on repetition or memorization, it focuses on helping children build real understanding. When letters, words, and symbols make sense at a deeper level, reading becomes more natural and far less frustrating.

Learning Through Experience, Not Drill

A distinctive part of the Davis® Foundations for Reading Program is its hands-on, experiential approach. Children actively engage in building and exploring language concepts, often using clay to create letters, words, and symbols. By forming and shaping what they are learning, they develop lasting mental images that support memory and comprehension.

Parents play an essential role in this program. A parent or support person learns the same tools and techniques alongside their child, making it possible to continue reinforcing progress at home.
